The Homer Public Library serves the communities of the Southern Kenai Peninsula from Ninilchik south. The library is a 17,000 square foot facility with a public meeting room, five study rooms, computers and other electronic equipment, and wireless internet access (available 24/7 outside the building). The collection includes over 60,000 items, both in print and online.

The library is a department of the City of Homer and the library’s basic operations are funded through the City’s General Fund. The Friends of the Homer Public Library is a dedicated group of volunteers who raise funds that enhance the library facility as well as many programs and services. The Library Advisory Board members are volunteers appointed by the Mayor to represent the community and advise the library and the City Council about library matters. Together, the three groups work closely to ensure that the library provides the best possible service to patrons and the broader community.
